Our Journey of Reawakening Armenian Identity

Arahet is the path to the rebirth of Armenian identity. By restoring our vital connection with the mountains, we rediscover the awareness and inner strength of being devoted to our homeland.

Arahet is an annual hiking championship, first held in 2023.  Its mission is to foster and develop hiking and mountaineering culture among the wider public. Arahet is open to all individuals aged 16 and above who are interested in hiking and mountain activities. Participation in the championship is organized in teams of six.

* Participants aged 16 to 18 may take part with parental consent and must be accompanied by an adult team leader.

The Armenian mountains are calling

Since 2025, the championship has been held on two separate routes, designed for amateur and professional teams.

Starting from 2025, Arahet has also adopted a two-day format. The event takes place at a large camping area — Arahetavan — where games and various activities create a warm and engaging environment for meaningful interaction, friendship-building, and collaboration among participants.

  • highlights the benefits of mountain sports as a healthy and accessible form of activity
  • encourages homeland awareness and exploration
  • develops teamwork and in-team cooperation
  • promotes healthy collaboration among hiking, sports, and related teams
  • contributes to the development of adventure tourism

Participation Format

Arahet is designed for individuals interested in mountaineering and hiking life.

Participation in the Arahet Hiking Championship is available exclusively in a team format, with teams consisting of six members. A team may represent an organization, an initiative, or any other type of group or institution.
