Bardzunk is an educational and volunteer movement where volunteering is a way of life, not a set of tasks carried out for short-term goals or recognition.

In our understanding, volunteering goes beyond the boundaries of time-limited activity.

Traditionally, we use the term “volunteer” to describe those who, in times of war, voluntarily stand up to defend their homeland — a role of undeniable importance. Yet it is equally important to recognize that the homeland also needs our dedication,  effort, and work in times of peace.

Volunteering is a form of service aimed at the well-being of the community, society, and, more broadly, the planet Earth.

It is an awareness of the impact and interconnectedness of one’s efforts, and a commitment to goals that go beyond personal interest.

It is important to understand the logic by which a volunteer acts. Regardless of whether the work is paid or unpaid, a person who has embraced volunteering as a way of life takes responsibility for the purpose and impact of the work they undertake, moving beyond the role of a mere task executor.

Such volunteers operate not only in the physical realm but also in the moral and spiritual domain, without any expectation of recognition. For this reason, we distinguish ideological and conscious volunteering from even low-paid volunteer work, which often rests on different foundations and is primarily limited to the completion of easily measurable tasks.

A person for whom volunteering is a way of life continually contributes to the well-being of others through their everyday actions. And if volunteering is a way of life, even a paid employee can be a volunteer — by doing more than is required, exceeding expected outcomes, and serving a shared idea.

Ո՞վ է կամավորը, ի՞նչ է անում, ե՞րբ և որտե՞ղ

A volunteer is anyone who has made volunteering a way of life and is guided by the principle: what is good for everyone is also good for me.

Put simply, a volunteer is a person who, while working for the well-being of themselves and their family, also cares about everything around them — from broader phenomena to individual people.

We encounter volunteers every day. They help elderly people cross the street, buy groceries for those who live alone, collect litter from the streets, improve shared spaces, educate children, and share their knowledge and experience.

These are meaningful actions that take place beyond the reach of cameras — driven by genuine care and compassion, free from expectations or the pursuit of recognition. And while the public visibility of volunteering helps foster a culture of volunteerism, true heroes often work behind the scenes.

They live among us, often side by side. It is important to recognize them and to understand that they embody not only volunteering, but an entire way of life.
